Anselm is an artist, photographer, creative director and host of Portraits by Anselm. Originally from Munich, he lives and works in Berlin.

"My path began behind the camera. I was shaped by my teachers at the San Francisco Art Institute, the School of Visual Arts and the International Center of Photography, by Christopher Makos as a mentor, and by my traineeship with David LaChapelle and Magnum Photos. Years as a photojournalist in New York taught me to look closely at people and the realities they live in. Founding the perfume brand DER DUFT taught me that every creator brings a distinct perspective. Today, as host of Portraits by Anselm, these chapters come together: I sit across from people of all backgrounds and ask the questions that reveal who they are. I still strive to find abstraction, beauty and fantasy within our vivid and challenging reality, and to create insight into stories worth telling."
